I have worked as a Project Manager for many years and taking this class has rounded out the full scope of knowledge necessary to conduct this function without leaving areas susceptible to problems that were not addressed in the proper phase of the planning process. I am happy that I took it and will most certainly use and implement the knowledge gained. The materials were very good, plenty of resources and the 3 instructors were very good. I used them all constantly. The questions for the Challenges were easily understandable than the Milestones, which were more easily understandable than the Final. They were vague in some areas and required you to take a lot of extra time to determine what was the most likely, as wording could indicate multiple probabilities. I was looking directly at course material for a couple of questions and missed every attempt at the correct answer, otherwise, I am very happy that I took this course which is beneficial to me in the real world.

This course was much more difficult than the others I have taken. This one actually took me the full course time to complete it. The course was OKAY! in the end though.

Like that Sophia offers a quicker and cheaper way to work towards your degree, however, the proctor process is a little ridiculous. Some of the proctors are over the top with pickiness. The process should take 15-20 minutes, not 45 to start the test. The project management course was challenging only because I felt some of the answers were not clear from the text.

FAQ

  • Q: Does Sophia accept third-party payment for tuition, such as financial aid or military benefits?
A: Sophia courses are not eligible for most third party payment methods, and must be paid for by credit or debit card. Tuition is due at the time of course registration. Sophia offers both full and partial payment plans as part of the registration process.
  • Q: When do the courses start and how long do I have to complete a course?
A: You choose your own start date and have 60 days to complete each course. However, because the courses are self-paced, you can complete them in fewer than 60 days.
  • Q: Where do I get the textbooks for my course?
A: You do not need any textbooks for Sophia courses. All material is taught by video and text-based tutorials that are in the course room, and are included in the cost.
  • Q: How am I graded in the course?
A: Your overall score is derived from how you do on two types of assessments: Challenges, which are formative assessments, and Milestones, which are summative assessments. Sophia’s English Composition I, Foundations of English Composition, and Public Speaking courses also include written assignments, called Touchstones, that also contribute to your overall score.
  • Q: How do I know which courses I should take?
A: Consult with your academic adviser at your university to determine specifically which Sophia courses could fit into your program. You can download the course syllabus directly from our site to share with your school advisor.
